Day 1 - Imlil Trek – Toubkal Refuge

We drive approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Marrakech to Imlil. There, we meet our mule team and guide and begin the trek toward Toubkal Refuge (3,200 m). We stop for a picnic lunch before continuing up the mule trail to the refuge. Today’s hike covers roughly 6 hours on the trail. At the refuge, we can either stay in dormitories or camp outside.

Day 2 - Toubkal Refuge – Toubkal Summit – Trek to Imlil

We have an early breakfast around 5 a.m. to enjoy the fresh morning air before heading to the summit of Mount Toubkal. The ascent is not technically difficult, but it is demanding, with sections of scrambling and loose scree, depending on your fitness level. The views from the top are breathtaking: to the north over the plain of Marrakech, to the south toward the Sahara, and across the many peaks of the High Atlas, including the village of Imlil below. After enjoying snacks and taking photos at the summit, we retrace our steps back to the refuge, arriving in time for lunch. After lunch, we descend slowly to Imlil. The descent is not difficult, but it is long. We arrive in Imlil late in the afternoon and then drive back to Marrakech, unless you have booked an extra night in Imlil.
